二里头夏都遗址博物馆是“十三五”国家重大文化工程。博物馆总体设计以二里头台地为意象，建筑天际线中央隆起并逐渐融合于大地，营造寻古探源、旷远幽邃的特殊场地氛围。建筑设计充分吸收、再现了二里头文化元素，精心打造出集保护、研究、展示、教育为一体的，具有示范意义的现代大型遗址博物馆。建筑室内外大量采用现代夯土技艺，是目前世界最大规模的单体生土建筑。

Erlitou Site Museum of the Xia capital is a major national cultural project during the 13th Five Year Plan period. The overall design of the museum takes the Erlitou platform as the image, and the central part of the building skyline rises and gradually integrates into the earth, creating a special atmosphere of looking for ancient sources, and being remote and profound. The architectural design fully absorbs and reproduces the cultural elements of Erlitou, and meticulously creates a large modern site museum with demonstration significance that integrates protection, research, exhibition and education. Modern ramming techniques are widely used indoors and outdoors, which is the largest single raw soil building in the world.
