美术馆的选址北靠岳麓山、东临湘江，与橘子洲头隔江相望。得天独厚的景观资源，决定了湖南省美术馆在城市中的重要地位。借鉴岳麓书院的格局，突出建筑景观化的特征，我们设计了一座园林式的美术馆。采用平面分区的方法，使得不同功能相对分区布置，其间又能保证便捷的联系。美术馆的办公空间与多功能演艺厅相对独立，以院落式布局紧临美术馆布置。

The museum is located on the Yuelu Hill in the north and Xiangjiang River in the east, facing Juzizhou Tou across the river. The unique landscape resources determine the important position of Hunan Art Museum in the city. Drawing on the pattern of Yuelu Academy and highlighting the features of architectural landscape, we designed a garden-style art gallery. Using the method of plane partition, so that different functions relative partition arrangement, and can ensure convenient contact. The office space of the Art museum is relatively independent from the multi-functional performing arts Hall, which is arranged in a courtyard layout close to the Art museum.
