贵州美术馆是对贵州省博物馆旧址的改扩建设计，贵州省博物馆原有馆舍始建于1958年，是新中国成立后贵州的首批大型公共建筑之一。作为贵州省文物保护单位，具有较高的历史、科学和艺术价值。改扩建设计充分尊重历史建筑，以历史建筑为空间核心，通过精心修缮加固老建筑、加建展馆新翼以及连接新老建筑的共享仪式大厅，满足了现代美术馆的新功能，并在贵阳老城中心营造出“艺术领地”的特定氛围。

Guizhou Art Museum is the renovation and expansion design of the former site of Guizhou Museum. The original building of Guizhou Museum was built in 1958, which was one of the first large-scale public buildings in Guizhou after the founding of New China. As a cultural relic protection unit in Guizhou Province, it has high historical, scientific and artistic values. The renovation and expansion design fully respects the historical buildings and takes the historical buildings as the spatial core. By carefully repairing and strengthening the old buildings, adding the new wings of the exhibition hall and the shared ceremony hall connecting the old and new buildings, it satisfies the new functions of the modern art museum and creates a specific atmosphere of "art territory" in the center of the old city of Guiyang.
