博物馆位于隋唐大运河遗址公园的重要滨水节点，总体设计以“运河源、隋唐韵、河洛技”为理念，用现代建造技术的自然呈现取代对隋唐风格的具象模仿。层层递进的单元空间布局规避了三角地形的不利影响，屋面预应力悬垂板与基座的拱形剪力墙组成独特的结构对偶秩序。内部通过结构、空间一体化的混凝土拱券形成了丰富的空间层次，室内外大量采用改良工艺的三彩陶瓷挂板系统，传统材料的创新性运用赋予运河文化遗产传承崭新的活力。

The museum is located at an important waterfront point of the Grand Canal Site Park of the Sui and Tang Dynasties. The overall design is based on the concept of "canal source, Sui and Tang rhyme, and river Luo technique", and replaces the concrete imitation of Sui and Tang styles with the natural presentation of modern construction techniques. The progressive unit space layout avoids the adverse effects of the triangular terrain, and the prestressed overhanging plate on the roof and the arch shear wall on the base form a unique dual structure order. Inside, the concrete arch with integrated structure and space forms a rich spatial level. Inside and outside, a large number of tri-color ceramic hanging plate system with improved technology is adopted. The innovative use of traditional materials gives a new vitality to the inheritance of canal cultural heritage.
